Researchers’ Perspective on Research Assessment at Helmholtz

Dear Helmholtz researchers,

We kindly invite you to take part in a short anonymous survey (approximately 5 minutes) to better understand how Helmholtz-affiliated researchers perceive current research assessment practices at their centers.

To further develop research assessment practices within the Helmholtz Association, a new Task Group Research Assessment was established in March 2025 by the Open Science Working Group and the Helmholtz Open Science Office. The goal of this group is to engage with quality-oriented assessment practices, compare the current practices at the centers with recommendations from ongoing expert discussions, and develop proposals for advancing research assessment in the Helmholtz Association.

The survey aims to collect an overview of the status quo and is aimed exclusively at researchers active at Helmholtz Centers. It includes questions about your current career stage, research field, and perceptions of how your performance is currently assessed versus how you think it should be assessed.

Thank you very much for your support!

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact us Lea Maria Ferguson (leamaria.ferguson@os.helmholtz.de) or Steffi Genderjahn (steffi.genderjahn@os.helmholtz.de)
